What we stand for - the self-understanding of the Dyke* March Hamburg

Our self-understanding

We are the organizers of Dyke*March Hamburg.

The Dyke*March on the eve of the CSD in Hamburg is a demonstration for lesbian* visibility.
We show ourselves on the street with all our differences, with diverse interests and political concerns.

We see ourselves as self-confident and visible Dykes*.

Dykes* are women, lesbians, inter, nonbinary, trans and agenda people who feel they belong to the lesbian* and/or queer spectrum.

Like Lesbian*, Dyke* was a pejorative term that we fought back as a positive self-designation. We understand these terms both politically and identity-forming.

We are feminists! That is, we are fighting against inequalities and discrimination based on patriarchal and heteronormative social structures.

The term “patriarchy” describes a system to create and maintain the supremacy of men towards all women and queer people. This also includes heteronormativity. Heteronormativity refers to the gender and sexuality of people and represents the idea that there are only two genders, namely men and women. It also defines how men and women have to be and sexuality is only recognized between men and women.

We represent an intersectional feminism. We see that, in addition to sexism, there are also other discrimination that may affect Dykes*. We stand up against Dykes* inevitables and discrimination, which also includes racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, classism, anti-disability or discrimination based on age, as well as lesbian and trans*enophobia be restricted.
We see ourselves as learners. The Dyke*March should also give Dykes* a platform with different experiences of discrimination and perspectives.

We are anti-fascists! We are committed to a diverse, open-minded, respectful cooperation. We fight against the temptations of authoritarian solutions and exclusion, invisible, threatening and ultimately persecution of people. We are critical of capitalism and understand capitalism as a system of exploitation of people, animals and nature that needs inequalities and discrimination and recreates it again and again.

We see ourselves as non-partisan and not commercial, work on a voluntary basis, are mixed with age and unfortunately still far too white.
